Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba says in the opening of this Qassida that “Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, has inspired me to repent (Seek Forgiveness) sincerely to Him through this book, which I wrote in the year 1316 AH (1917-1918 C.E) just like Surah An-Nisa Verse 106 advises us to do.It says: “And seek the forgiveness of Allah—indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Various verses of Fathu-l Ghaffar consist of Salawat/Prayers on The Prophet that mention forgiveness being sought through them in the form of Prayers for the reader to Meditate on to be in alignment to receive the Blessings and Benefit. This Qassida consists of Salawat (Prayers upon The Prophet) with some structured in the form of seeking the forgiveness of Allah through/by way of Noble Attributes, Names and Qualities of The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It allows us to fulfill yet another Quranic command from Surah Al-Azhab, Verse 56 where it says "Verily Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and send him a worthy salutation." What a way to make it easy by using Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness) and Salawat (Prayers upon The Prophet) combined within the same Qassida.
